In-School Theatre Program

Theme for 2016-17: Environment and Sustainability

K-5 Students in our 90 minute In-School Theatre classes will:

  • be introduced to drama/theatre games and activities (such as tableau, role playing, group work and devising).
  • be encouraged to explore and create drama/theatre using their learned skills and articulate their own questions and ideas regarding the environment and sustainability.
  • develop an understanding of group processes and learn to show respect for all ideas, individual perceptions and performances.

The objective of the curriculum theme is for students to make connections with various components of the natural environment through theatre. Specific components of the environment to be addressed will include the following: nature, trees, elements, water, wildlife, animals and the students’ own awareness of their participation in sustaining the earth’s resources.
